Leader of the Narc Kenya party Martha Karua has ruled out any possibility of her joining the Kenya Kwanza government.

An X user posted on Saturday morning, July 27, 2024, endorsing the former Gichugu MP for the open Attorney General post, stating that her counsel would be highly beneficial to President William Ruto's administration.

"I support @MarthaKarua for the position of Attorney General. His advice is much needed by the government. Martha should take that position immediately," @PeterKariukiKE wrote and attached his statement to the poster of Mrs. Karua's biography.

In her response, the former law minister made it clear that he has no intention of taking the position.

"Thank you, I don't want ," Martha Karua replied.

Her answer confirms her strong decision not to work with the government of Kenya Kwanza.

On Thursday, July 25, 2024, the former Gichugu Member of Parliament announced her party's decision to withdraw from the Umoja-One Kenya Alliance.

This was after some members of ODM, another party forming Azimio, were appointed to ministerial positions.

The decision was presented in a letter sent to the general secretary of the union, Junet Mohammed, and acting general secretary of Narc Kenya Asha Bashir.

"Please know that our stay in the Azimio La Umoja cannot last due to the current political developments," Bashir said.

"As NARC Kenya through this letter, we are giving notice to withdraw from the coalition as stipulated in clause (s) from the coalition Agreement. This notice comes into effect from the date of this letter," he added.

Karua through a tweet said "Our stay on the  Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance Declaration is no longer possible".

Her party's desire to withdraw from the Azimio is surprising given her assurance during a radio interview on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, that her relationship with the Azimio leader Raila Odinga was stable.

"We talked not long ago, and we will be able to talk again, things are clear," Karua said.

Karua called for the opposition to be strengthened in order to keep putting more pressure on the Kenya Kwanza government to keep their promises and declined to join the national unity government.
