Michael Olunga nominated for an International soccer award

Harambee stars captain Michael Olunga has been nominated for the inaugural Middle East Player of the year award.
The awarding will take place alongside the 18th Dubai International Sports Conference in partnership with Dubai Sports Council on January 19 at the five-star Atlantis, The Palm.
Olunga has been on a fine form this season scoring 7 goals for Al Duhail in the Qatar Super League with another goal and an assist for the side in the Asia Champions league.
He also helped the team win three titles this year including last seasons Qatar Super League , as well as clinching the Qatari Stars league golden boot.
The achievements have earned him nomination for the award, which was introduced to recognise the best player playing in the Middle East Asian region.
Olunga will have battle it out along other top contenders including one of football greats Al Nassr's Christiano Ronaldo who has been on a stellar form this season scoring 13 goals and 7 assists so far the Saudi based team in the Saudi league plus 3 goals and an assist in the Asia Champions league.
Other top contenders including Al Ittihad's Karim Benzema, Salem Al-Dawsari of Al Hilal, Mourad Batna, Mohamed El Shenawy, Abderrazak Hamdallah, Odion Ighalo, Ali Mabkhout, Riyad Mahrez, Alejandro Romero and red-hot Al Nassr midfielder Anderson Talisca.
There will also be an award to recognize the best Middle East Club which includes eight nominations such as Al Hilal, Al Ahly, and Ronaldo’s Al Nassr.

The award has been introduced by the Dubai Globe Soccer Soccer when it marks it’s 14th anniversary of handing awards to the best performing players.
It will be awarding the best performing players globally in 16 different categories.
