Equity Group Foundation has donated Sh7.3 Million non-pharmaceuticals products to Migori County to aid in the daily activities of the health sector.

Migori County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Julius Nyerere, while receiving the donation at Awendo Sub County hospital said the donation will help the health personnel in wards and the clinical sector across the eight Sub Counties.

The donated consignment included clinical gloves, aprons, masks, face shields, disposal scrubs among other vital Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).

Nyerere affirmed that the procured non pharmaceuticals products will be properly accounted for and should be used to the intended group.

He cautioned the health personnel who were engaging in dubious activities of reselling the same to residents seeking the health services and to private pharmacies that the county will not spare anybody once caught.

Nyerere said that already the county has created awareness among the county residents and urged them to report any suspected cases of individuals selling government drugs and PPEs.

“We must take responsibility with what the donors and county give us and report any cases of theft to cushion our society against exploitation and theft of our subsidised drugs,” noted Nyerere.

He urged the Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to portray political goodwill in order to fight the health menace and reduce health burdens among the residents

Migori County governor’s spouse Agnes Ochilo said that the Equity Group has shown a state ship in helping to bridge the health gaps.

Mrs. Ochilo pinpointed that the donation will help to address health gaps and called upon the concerned parties to utilise the donated resources well for the benefit of county residents.

She thanked the Equity Foundation and encouraged other like-minded institutions and organisations to come on board and help the health sector.

“The county and national government cannot do 100 percent health services, but when development partners engage with the counties we are able to identify the untapped gaps and readdress them through donations”, she explained.

Similarly, the General Manager Equity Bank for Nyanza and Western Region George Onyinno said that the convergence of objectives between Equity Group with the county government of Migori were aligned in redressing issues that concern the county residents.

Onyinno was thankful to the county government of Migori for giving them a platform to do good in society.

He added that giving back to society was one of the objectives of the equity group in helping and engaging the community.
