President William Ruto has been urged to listen to Kenyans’ concerns over the Finance Bill, 2023 or risk public wrath that could see his government kicked out of power.
According to the Sufuria revolution movement leader, Obungu Owich, the bill which seeks to increase taxation and introduce new ones was an affront to the constitution as it threatens the basic survival of Kenyans.
Speaking at Sagam in Gem constituency during the launch of the local chapter of the Bunge la Mwananchi, Owich also warned elected leaders from Nyanza to prepare for the public wrath should any of them vote in favour of the bill in parliament.
He said the Sufuria revolutionary movement, that has been active in street protests in opposition to the high cost of living, was fully in support of Busia Senator, Okiya Omtata’s decision to file a case in court against the bill.
He accused the Kenya Kwanza leadership of engaging in political propaganda and peddling lies packaged as truths.
“We cannot be led by propagandists who blatantly lie to the people,” he said.
The Sufuria revolution movement leader called on Kenyans to stand firm and hold their leaders accountable, saying that the constitution was clear that the people were supreme.
The occasion was also attended by Gem politician, Julius Okinda who called on elected politicians warming up to the opponents of their sponsoring parties to resign and seek fresh mandate from the electorate.
