Musakasa Technical Training Institute (TTI) in Bumula constituency, Bungoma county is back on it's feet.
The institution which was on it's knees is up and running after area Member of Parliament (MP) Jack Wamboka's timely intervention.
Wamboka embarked on ensuring that the TTI is accredited with modern marketable courses and mobilized over 1,000 Bumula youths to enroll in the institute, amongst other relevent interventions.
On Monday, the first term legislature handed over a cheque worth Sh1.78 million, towards catering for fees, for newly admitted students and and an additional Sh609, 000 for restoring water in the institute.
"We are doing a turnaround with emphasis on capacity building the institute aimed at ensuring that learners get modern practical skills. We are working closely with the ministry of education and partners so that Musakasa produces technical experts fit for ever-changing job market,” said Wamboka.
The school population had dropped to less than 200 students.
The institute's management thanked Wamboka for his deliberate efforts, which have seen over 1, 000 new students get admitted.
The lawmaker urged area residents to back his efforts.
"Majority of our youths who did not qualify for University education are littered in our villages, I encourage them to join this facility and get the needed skills."
He said technical training institutes and technical and vocational educational training centres play crucial roles in the manufacturing, infrastructure, science and technological development.
