The Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi then provided the detailed staffing levels at the Kenya Embassy in Washington D.C, and the two Kenyan Consulates General in Los Angeles and New York.

This was after a question by Nairobi Senator Edwin W. Sifuna and supplementary questions from other Senators.

Before the Senate Plenary on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, he made it known that staff at each cadre played a critical role and added that this was vital for the running of the embassies and consulates effectively.

"Our embassies and missions worldwide are committed to promoting, projecting, and protecting Kenya's image and national interests," Mudavadi said.

They play a very critical role in nurturing good relations between Kenya and the countries or institutions to which they are accredited." Added Mudavadi.

This session allowed Senators to further understand how Kenya's diplomatic missions in the United States work.

Mudavadi elaborated on the specific roles and responsibilities of the staff, from administrative duties down to the consular service, which impact positively on the increase in Kenya's diplomatic presence.

Mudavadi assured the senate that the staffing levels are regularly reviewed with a view toward ensuring that it is compatible with the strategic objectives of Kenya's foreign policy.

It also discussed challenges at the embassies and consulates due to resource constraints and continuous training and staff development to keep abreast of the demands as they change within the scope of the requirement for diplomatic service.

Mudavadi assured the challenged occasion with government commitment to service delivery standards. The Prime Cabinet Secretary said the government was determined to serve the country's diplomatic missions with a view to ensuring they were fully equipped in their engagements for Kenya's interests.

The session ended with a unanimous call for continued collaboration between the Senate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the effort toward making the country's diplomatic missions more effective.
