Murang'a Assembly approves the nomination of new members of the county municipal board

Murang’a County Assembly has approved the nomination of two members to seat on the County Municipality Board.
The MCAs on Wednesday unanimously adopted a report recommending the nomination of Bishop George Irungu Kariuki and Ms Caroline Kaari Nyaga by Governor Irungu Kang’ata to be members of the board.
In a motion moved by Kahumbu MCA Isaac Chefman Njoroge, the two nominees were nominated on grounds of the wealth of experience in community leadership that they intend to utilise and share in the public and private sectors.
Njoroge said the nominees appeared before the land, housing and physical planning committee on Monday, July 17 for approval hearing on their suitability or otherwise for appointment as board members.
“The nominees exhibited outstanding academic credentials, sufficient experience and competencies in relation to the positions they have been nominated to,” said Njoroge who is the vice chair, land, housing and physical planning committee.
Bishop George Irungu Kariuki , 44 holds a Master’s in Divinity from Teleo University in Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible and Theology from Global University in the United States of America.
Kariuki is currently a leader at Christian Foundation Fellowship, a faith-based organization in the municipality and has been a board member in Kahuhia Girls High School and Mjini Primary School.
He was approved for appointment as a representative of the Murang’a Municipality Pastors Fellowship Group representing the registered associations of the informal sector.
Caroline Kaari Nyaga, 54 holds a Master’s in Education from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Education (in Early Childhood Education) from the University of Nairobi.
She is currently the Managing Director at a school in Maragua town and has practiced teaching profession in schools like Precious Angles Schools, Sisters Primary and Maragua Little Angels Nursery schools in Murang’a.
She has been approved for appointment as a representative of the Maragua Town Friends Self-Help Group representing the neighborhood associations.
The two nominees were appointed to replace Charles Machigo who is currently MCA of Murang’a Township ward and Ms. Judy Makira who joined politics.
