Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen and his Defence Counterpart Aden Duale launched the construction of roads in Kerio Valley to aide the military operations in weeding out bandits in the North Rift region. 

The duo launched roads in Kimnai Constituency that will connect people of Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo across Kerio River. 

Earlier in the Morning, The two Cabinet Secretaries held meetings with members of the public at Kabusein in the boarder between Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot Counties and Security meetings at Chesegon. 

CS Murkomen took to his social media to acknowledge locals in the area for working with security personnel in a collaborative initiative against banditry "In the meeting, leaders and wananchi supported government’s efforts to restore peace and order. Our Kenya Defense forces are working together with the police to enhance security operations and to neutralize criminal elements in our midst. KDF has established additional camps to bolster the security situation in the region." Murkomen stated. 

" As a ministry we are building security roads to aid the work of our security forces. I believe we shall eventually bring to and end the evil acts of banditry. "added Murkomen. 

Duale on his part mentioned that Concerted efforts among the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), National Police Service and National Police Reservistsand the government have managed to silence the guns in the North Rift. 

He further added that peace and normalcy has been restored in Kolowa area of Tiaty in Baringo County and the place made habitable to allow the government to shift focus on regional development as a way of sustaining stability.

"Today, I made an inspection tour to Kolowa area in Tiaty, Baringo County to assess the security situation and inspect the ongoing peace-building process being done by our troops.

Kolowa is one of the areas of responsibility for Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) that was previously under a vicious cycle of attacks from bandits and cattle rustlers for decades. The vice has been suppressed in recent months and there's a return of normalcy in the area owing to the valuable efforts of our security teams."Duale said in a statement on his Facebook page. 

" The Government has an elaborate socio-economic blueprint to develop the region and make it compete favourably with the rest of the country by contributing to the growth of our Gross Domestic Product (GDP) through meaningful socio-economic activities." He added. 

The CS noted that the Government is keen to eradicate banditry in the area by rolling out various programmes and projects among them roads, healthcare, agriculture and education, to attract investments and other legitimate income generating activities.

He also noted that the government will fully support the military operations in the region by equipping them with adequate weapons and establishing military bases to help restore long - lasting peace. 

Duale urged leaders and the community to collaborate in an attempt to end crime and banditry "I urged the leaders and the community to collectively work with our security teams so as to win this war against banditry and other related crimes."
