Mutahi Ngunyi to Teresia Wairimu: You’re lost Bishop!

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has clapped back at Evangelist Teresia Wairiumu, a day after she publicly criticised President William Ruto’s administration.

The Evangelist accused Ruto of abandoning the needs of Kenyans, and focusing on other things, in what seemingly suggested that she was unimpressed with the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In response, Ngunyi wondered why the Evangelist thought Ruto was wrong while Gachagua was right.

“Dear Teresia Wairimu: Two questions. Why is Gachagua right in your prayers and Ruto is wrong? Has God told you that Ruto is wrong? Are you listening to God or to the people?” he paused.

“If Moses listened to the people, the children of Israel would still be in bondage. You are lost Bishop!”

Evangelist Wairimu, founder of the Faith Evangelistic Ministry (FEM) in Nairobi is among prominent members of the clergy who ‘prayed William Ruto into the 2022 presidential victory.’

The Ministry has branches in the United Kingdom (UK) and United States of America (USA), besides its reach within Kenya to Mombasa, Nakuru and Kutus in Kirinyaga County.

She is also an author of various books, including a Cactus in the Desert, an autobiography, pray without Ceasing, Arise & Shine, Live by Faith, Favour – For such a time as this and From Scarcity to Abundance.

During her Sunday service, she accused Ruto’s administration of lowering its guard by forgetting the needs of Kenyans, and instead focusing on politics, slightly over two years after assuming office.

"I was convinced this was a God-chosen government. Instead of dealing with important issues like the economy and taxes, they are handling other things," she said.

Joining in the conversation, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo threw the spanner into the works, by urging the ‘clergy’ who called Azimio leader, Raila Odinga Mganga (witchdoctor) during the 2022 campaigns to repent.

“Are they not the ones who declared our side non-Godly? Are they not the ones who made some of us stop going to Church? What happened? God never fails. What happened spiritually? Were they praying from a good place or driven by other ungodly considerations? They need to introspect and repent.”
