Mzee Randa being misused for selfish end - Lawyer Nyamori
By Peter Ochieng
Joshua Odhiambo Nyamori, an advocate of the High Court is not convinced with the process used to elect elder Odungi Randa as the next chairman of the Luo Council of elders.
Randa who hails from Kisumu County was unveiled during the Piny Luo cultural festival in Homabay County in Saturday, after defeating two opponents.
The festival brought together residents of Migori, Homabay, Kisumu and Siaya Counties.
However, Nyamori who is one of board directors at the National Housing Corporation (NHC) says the process employed to propel Randa to the seat is questionable.
"Jaduong' Odungi Randa is a fine oldman. He has been my to go political advisor for many years, a humble and honest man that I respect," Nyamori wrote in a statement.
"The process of his purported elevation to the coveted seat of KER of the Luo Community is however wrong, despicable and stands condemned. It is a move that must and will be resisted by all progressive forces in the community."
He claimed the old man is being misused for political expediency.
"The good oldman is being misused unnecessarily to pursue selfish political ends and is exposed to unnecessary public ridicule."
"Even as I condemn this process and call for its. annulment, I still maintain my respect for Mzee Odungi Randa," he added.
Randa takes over from Willis Opiyo Otondi who died in March, 2023.
