Nairobi Expressway to be closed temporarily

The Nairobi Expressway will be temporarily closed later this week.

According to a public notice by Moja Expressway Company, the highway will be closed on Saturday and Sunday, to pave way for the second edition of the Nairobi City Marathon.

The Marathon is set for Sunday, 1st July, 2023.

"Kindly note that the Nairobi Expressway will be temporarily closed on Saturday 1st July, 2023 at 10:00pm to Sunday 2nd July, 2023 at 4:00pm to make way for the Nairobi City Marathon," reads the notice.

The company, which manages the Expressway urged motorists and commuters to plan their journeys accordingly, so as to avoid any inconvenience.

The Nairobi Expressway is a 27 kilometres toll road, connecting Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Nairobi's Westlands area.

It was constructed under a public-private partnership between the government of Kenya, and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), with an aim of easing traffic to and from JKIA.

It starts from Mlolongo passing through JKIA and Nairobi’s CBD to the James Gichuru junction along Waiyaki Way.
