The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations (KCPE) and the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) commenced smoothly in Marakwet West Sub County without any major hitches.
This positive start marks a significant milestone for the eager candidates in the troubled county where the insecurity menace and adverse weather pattern had in past years dogged the annual national event.
Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) John Chirchir who presided over the distribution of examination papers across the sub-county assured candidates that security was beefed up to guarantee a safe environment during the examination period.
Speaking at his compound in Kapsowar while overseeing the opening and distribution of examination materials, Chirchir expressed relief that earlier concerns about adverse weather conditions affecting the transportation of examination papers had not materialized. He acknowledged the collective effort of all stakeholders in making this a reality.
Chirchir emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the examination process, stating, "Security has been beefed up in the sub-county for the success of the examination. Let us act firmly in the interest of our children; anyone who breaches any aspect of the examination should be apprehended."
Marakwet West Sub County Director of Education, Mr. Abraham Sang, reaffirmed the commitment to ensuring a fair and secure examination environment. He noted that every school in the sub-county had been well-prepared to serve as exam centers and cautioned center managers against tampering with the examination papers.
He added that with tight security measures in place, students can focus on demonstrating their knowledge and skills without unnecessary worries about the examination process.
As the examination period continues, parents, teachers, and students hope for a successful and fair assessment that reflects their hard work for the years of study.
