Nyeri County will host the 5th Engineering Partnerships Convention scheduled for 7th-10th May 2023.
The forum is aimed at taking stock of the strides made as well as reflecting and celebrating the achievements attained and responding to emerging trends and challenges.
This was disclosed when the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) team led by the Chairperson Engineer Erastus Mwongera, the Registrar and CEO Engineer Margaret Ogai, and other officials from EBK paid a courtesy call to Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga to discuss the essentials of adequate preparation for the upcoming national convention, which will be held at the Dedan Kimathi University of Technology (DeKUT).
Speaking at the Governor’s office during the visit, DeKUT Vice Chancellor Prof. Peter Muchiri said the three-day conference will host over 3,000 participants who will join in both physically and virtually.
Eng. Muchiri expressed his optimism in the institution’s capacity to hold a convention of such magnitude and importance, while emphasizing its alignment with DeKUT’s objectives of technological advancements and innovations.
He said the convention will also seek to showcase Kenya’s engineering innovations and analyze the milestones in engineering over the past 60 years as well as strategize for the future and set new goals and directions for the engineering field.
It will also seek to foster collaboration and networking among professionals, innovators, researchers, policymakers, academia, and organizations.
The EBK Team Chairperson Engineer Mwongera also expressed their desire to partner with the County Government of Nyeri in further weeding out quacks in the industry that have in the past been at the center of collapsed buildings and other malpractices and challenges.
He said the innovation fair will provide a platform to showcase creativity, ingenuity, and advancements and display cutting-edge ideas, products, and solutions.
