By Peter Ochieng

National soccer team, Harambee Stars captain Michael Ogada Olunga's star is shining brighter in Qatar.

The lanky forward who features for Al-Duhail in the Qatar Stars League (QSL) has made a three man shortlist for the league's Most Valuable Player (MVP), for the 2022/2023 season.

In order to win the award, the former Gor Mahia striker will have to negotiate a corner against Tunisian Yousef Msakni and Akram Afif who both play for Al Arabi.

"Happy to have been nominated for the best player (MVP) award of the season," noted Olunga.

Michael Olunga is also in the running for QSL top scorer's gong.

He has scored 18 goals, and contributed 3 assists.

Al Somah of Al Arabi leads the top scorer's chart with 18 goals and 5 assists.

Msakni has scored 13 goals, capped with 5 assists.

The QSL 2022/2023 season ends on Monday night, with a host of season ender matches on the cards.

Al Duhail will host Shamal, Al-Sadd will be up against Al Arabi, Umm Salal will face Qatar SC, Al Sailiya will host Al Wakra, while Al Rayyan will play host to Al-Gharafa.

Olunga's team needs a win of any margin to be crowned champions.

Al-Duhail lead the league standings with 48 points, two ahead of second placed Al Arabi, after 21 rounds of matches.

Al-Sadd is ranked third with 44 points.
