Oparanya, Joho and two ODM MPs nominated to Ruto's new cabinet

President William Ruto has nominated 10 new members for Approval to his new cabinet.
In a Press release on Wednesday, 24 July, 2024. The head of state included four member from the ODM party as part of his broad - based approach for the new cabinet.
ODM nominated Member of Parliament John Mbadi has been nominated as Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury while Unguja Member of Parliament and Leader of Minority in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi has been nominated for CS for Energy and Petroleum.
ODM Deputy party leaders Ali Hassan John and Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya have been nominated for positions for CS for Mining & Blue Economy and Cooperatives & MSME's respectively.
The list also saw recently dismissed Cabinet Secretaries selected for re-appointment including Salim Mvurya for Ministry Investment Trade & Industry, Rebecca Miano who had been recently re appointment as the New Attorney General but now transferred as CS nominee for Tourism & Wildlife,
Kipchumba Murkomen who served before as CS for Transport and infrastructure was nominated for CS for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy & Sports while Dr Alfred Mutua was nominated for CS for Labour and Social Protection.
Former Attorney General Justin Muturi was nominated for CS at the ministry of Public Service while a new name in the Cabinet, Stella Soi Lang’at, was nominated for CS for Gender, Culture, Arts & Heritage.
The President says that the move was part of his plans to form a broad based government that will include a multi-sectoral approach including the opposition and Youth.
The President on Friday last week named the first batch of the nominees including the Attorney General nominee.They included ;
Ministry of the Interior and National Administration - Kithure Kindiki
Ministry of Health - Debra Mulongo Barasa
Ministry of Defence- Aden Duale
Ministry of Roads and Transport - Davis Chirchir
Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry - Soipan Tuya
Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation - Eric Muga
Ministry of Education- Julius Migosi
Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development - Alice Wahome
Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development- Dr Andrew Karanja
Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy- Dr Margaret Ndungu.
Currently, the Attorney General's docket and East African Community docket remain vacant.
Moses Kuria, Peninah Malonza, Florence Bore, Susan Nakhumicha, Mithika Linturi,Ezekiel Machogu, Aisha Jumwa, Professor Njuguna Ndungu, Ababu Namwamba, Simon Chelugui, Zachariah Njeru and Eliud Owalo are some of the dismissed CS's who have been left out for re-appointment.
