Othaya MP distributes wheel chairs

Othaya MP Wambugu Wainaina has distributed 20-wheel chairs to beneficiaries who are abled differently in Othaya.

The wheel chairs have been provided by the Metropolitan NGO in partnership with the MP Wainaina.

The wheelchairs, in addition to providing mobility, an appropriate wheelchair benefits the physical health and quality of life of the users by helping in reducing common problems such as pressure sores, progression of deformities and improving respiration and digestion.

Speaking today when distributing the wheel chairs the MP who is a member of Social Protection Parliamentary Committee said those abled differently must be treated equally with respect so that they live normal lives.

Wainaina said this was the second consignment after others were provided a few months ago.

He said the parliamentary committee will visit the constituency in the near future to ensure those in the area are catered for.

The MP’s office has also been mapping out those affected in the constituency so that they can benefit from the National Government.

James Maina a beneficiaries thanked the MP adding that with the wheel chair he can now afford to do his work effectively.
