Our enemies will be put to shame, declares Ruto
By Peter Ochieng
President William Ruto has expressed his determination at ensuring that he succeeds in implementing all his plans for the people of Kenya.
Speaking at State House Nairobi on Tuesday morning during the signing of ministerial performance contracts, Ruto said Kenya’s enemies will be put to shame, when he finally delivers for Kenyans.
“We will confound the naysayers,” he declared.
“We will succeed. This country will not fail. This great nation that God has given us will succeed. The enemies of Kenya will be put to shame because we are going to succeed and we are going to take this country forward."
Ruto said together with other leaders and Kenyans in general, he is determined to ensure that the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) program succeeds, after failing during the last two successive administrations.
“We have taken on the responsibility of universal health coverage. I know two successive presidents have attempted but they didn’t quite succeed. We have decided that we are taking on this challenge because there are too many Kenyans that die out of illnesses that we can treat.”
This time round, the president said, “We must get it right and make it possible for every citizen irrespective of their financial status to get the highest level of treatment in Kenya.”
Ruto was seemingly addressing those opposed to the new Social Health Authority (SHA) and the new Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), which have replaced the defunct National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).
He told Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) and Principal Secretaries (PSs) to fold their sleeves and tighten their belts, adding that there is no room for delay or failure.
“There is no room for delay or failure to make Kenya thrive. We will bite the bullet and sort out the sticky issues that have derailed our transformation. That is why we are building synergies that will deliver — on scale and with urgency — on our commitments.”
