Over 70,000 passports ready for collection Nationwide

The State Department for Immigration Department and Citizen Services has announced that another 70, 629 passports are ready for collection nationwide.

The Ministry has announced that some 43,742 new passports have been printed since September 25th bringing the total number of passports available for collection to 131,196.

Principal Secretary for immigration and citizen services Amb. Julius Bitok has asked the relevant holders to collect the passports at the designated stations across the country. 

“The government is committed to enhancing efficiency in the Directorate of Immigration to ensure the delivery of services as quickly as possible,” Bitok said.

The Department has been working to reduce the existing passport backlog, which currently totals 177,599 applications.

On September 25, 2023, the government introduced the Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) to expedite the processing of passport applications.

As of October 20, 2023, Bitok revealed that Kenyans had successfully collected 60,567 passports.
