Parents assured of safety of their children in schools

Parents and guardians of pupils going to various schools in Baringo County have been assured of adequate security for their children and urged allow them back to school.

This comes in the wake of the recent insecurity incidents that has rocked some parts of the County raising tensions among the neighboring communities in the area.

Form one students who are set to enroll to their respective National, County and Extra-County schools starting next week from the county and different parts have been assured of heightened security after the national government through the Ministry of Interior deployed the police and the national Police Reservists to patrol the region.

According to Baringo County Commissioner Stephen Kutwa, security has been beefed up especially within the conflict areas and around the schools in Baringo North Sub-County where tensions are still high.

“I am glad to report that both primary, secondary and tertiary schools have re-opened and so far70 percent of students have reported while all teachers are in school and learning is already ongoing with normalcy prevailing within the county,” added Kutwa.

Schools that exist in the border areas which are prone to insecurity incidents once in a while and were destroyed have been renovated through the Kenya Defense Forces and have permanent security detail to ensure safety for parents, teachers and the pupils.

He asked Education stakeholders to swiftly liaise with security agents whenever there is an issue or sort of tension arising for it to be investigated fast and ensure that learning continues.

He further asked the Locals to embrace and preach peace for the benefit of the region and the country as a whole.
