Simone Biles has won the all-around Olympic gold medal at the Paris Olympics on Thursday, 1 August, 2024 by scoring 59.131 points against 57.932 of Brazilian Rebeca Andrade, only 1.199 adrift.
Fellow American Gymnast and defending champion Sunisa Lee came third with 56.465. Points while Italian Alice D'Amato took the fourth place with 56.333. Kaylia Nemour of Algeria closed the five best with 55.899.
An error on the uneven bars had Simone Biles ahead of Brazil’s Rebecca Andrade and Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour after two rotations. Biles needed big scores on balance beam and floor exercise to secure the gold medal.
She delivered first up on the balance beam on the next rotation, Biles nailed her routine with only the slightest of form checks, to move back ahead of Andrade.
She went on to finish the job on the floor where she is quite undisputable given to her stunning record of 37 all-round titled victories in a row.
Biles alongside teammates Jade Carey, Sunisa Lee and Jordan Chiles won the first team gold for USA since Brazil on Tuesday.
The Greatest gymnast of all times is still eying for more glory as she has qualified to the individual vault on August 3, beam and floor finals both on August 5.
Jade Carey will also compete in the vault final while Jordan Chiles will join Biles in the floor final. Sunisa Lee’s next chance for a medal comes on Aug. 4 in the uneven bars final.
Biles won an Olympic gold quadruple in 2016 Rio tournaments with a Team gold, All-around gold, Vault gold and Floor exercise gold. She won bronze on the Balance beam.
Tokyo 2020 Olympics was quite an unlucky event for her as she only bagged Silver onTeam tournaments and bronze on Balance beam.
This is her second Olympic all-around gold medal, only the third woman in history to achieve that double and the first since 1968.
