Police arrest Mackenzie's wife

Controversial preacher, Paul Mackenzie’s wife has been arrested.

Rhoda Mumbua Maweu was reportedly flushed out from her hideout in Mtwapa, Kilifi County, on Monday night.

She has been out of the picture, since the arrest of her husband on April 15th April, 2023.

Mackenzie, leader of the Good News International (GNI) ‘church’ is being held in connection to brainwashing of his followers into a ‘fast to death to meet Jesus,’ in Kilifi County’s vast Shakahola forest.

Bodies of over 100 people, believed to be his followers have been exhumed from shallow graves in the forest.

Detectives have also rescued a dozen of emaciated people, who were fasting in the forest.

Maweu is being interrogated by police over Shakahola massacre.

She may end up being charged as an accomplice to her husband, or a state witness.

Mumbua is Mackenzie’s third wife, after the death of his first two spouses.

Last week, Dagoretti North Member of Parliament (MP) Beatrice Elachi called for arrest of Mackenzie’s wife and close relatives, for aiding the murder of over 100 people.

“They should be jailed, him and the wife so that they learn a good lesson. You are part of the participation of ensuring they are fasting, they have to, and even the supervisors, all of them must be in,” Elachi said during an interview on Citizen TV.

“We cannot take advantage of poverty to finish our people. You know it is poverty that drives anyone to do anything to survive. But this one who decides that everyone should fast and he’s not fasting must be charged, this one deserves death,” she added.

On Monday, President William Ruto hinted at forming a commission of inquiry to effectively probe what happened in Shakahola.

“To ensure that what happened in Shakahola will never happen again, we are forming a Judicial Commission of inquiry so that we can get to the bottom of what really happened in Shakahola.”
