The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kajiado South is investigating a case of suspected murder of a 34-year-old woman by her husband.
When applying for a miscellaneous application for the detention of Duncan Kutata before Principal Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku, Investigations officer Paul Kariro said the accused is suspected to have poisoned his wife Everline Yointa Loomoni Kutata
In the application, Kariro said the incident happened on July 31 at around 10.00 pm in Osoit area, Imbaruetin Sub Location Loitoktok Sub County.
According to DCI, on the material night, the two went to sleep, however at around 10 pm the deceased developed a breathing problem.
Kutata rushed to call his neighbors and upon return found the deceased already dead.
Police and DCI officers were alerted and rushed to the scene and found foam oozing from the deceased’s mouth, with some traces of blood.
On the scene, there were some medicines that were taken as exhibits before the body of the deceased was taken to Loitoktok Sub County Hospital mortuary.
The DCI suspects that the deceased was poisoned by her husband, which informed his arrest, pending further investigation.
The DCI urged the court to detain the suspect for 14 days to enable them conclude investigations, record statements of crucial witnesses as well as carry out a postmortem on the deceased body.
The prosecution plea was granted to detain the accused at the Loitoktok police station as investigations got underway.
The matter will be mentioned on August 13.
