Police in Kajiado are investigating the death of a middle aged woman whose body was dumped at Kiwanjani in Naikarra village, Kajiado County.

A man identified as Joseph Mutiso who claims to be the victim's ex-husband is being investigated by police in Kajiado central over the murder of the middle aged woman, Jackline Mwende, whose body was found on Sunday.

The body of Mwende, a resident of Manjengo reportedly who had been working at Kabanas bar in Kajiado was found in a bad state according to Naikarra village elder, Mr Robert Lemayian.

“I received a call from one of the neighbours stating that a body has been found in my area; I rushed to the scene and found the body of a middle aged woman who we suspect was killed and dumped. She had a head injury, a bleeding nose and mouth, a black eye and because of the state of the body, we suspect she was also raped,” said Lemayian.

Lemayian added that, after reporting the matter to the police, they rushed to the scene immediately and took the body to the Kajiado referral hospital mortuary.

Kajiado Central Sub County Police Commander Daudi Loronyokwe said that Jackline’s ex-husband Joseph Motiso reported to the mortuary and identified the body of the deceased, and he is now at the police custody as the first murder suspect.

“We have in custody one suspect who claims to be the deceased ex-husband, we are questioning and investigating him. We want to know more about the incident to find out if he could be the murderer, we are still looking for other suspects. We discovered her name and her work place after her ex-husband showed up,” said Loronyokwe.

Loronyokwe also stated that, lately the county has had rampart cases of domestic murder, one of them being of a man who killed his wife recently in Kajiado town.

The SCPC asked the county residents to be keen on people who are new in the area and to report any murder cases for investigations.

“We are pleading with the residents to keep their eyes open in case of such incidents to avoid domestic murders. We encourage them to find better ways of resolving domestic conflicts rather than killing one another,” said Loronyokwe.
