Isiolo County Commissioner Mr. Geoffrey Omoding has warned National Police Reservists (NPR) against guarding private property at the expense of their duties to serve the general public. Omoding said that four NPRs were being investigated for providing security for individuals contrary to their call of duty in protecting communities alongside the National Police officers.

“If they are found to be working for individuals at the expense of the community, they will be disarmed and replaced,” the County Commissioner said.

The CC said that all NPRs should work under the command of the Sub-County Police Commanders and the local chiefs and none of them should set out on their private duties without the knowledge of the area Police Station Commanders or local chief.

Omoding directed chiefs and their assistants to ensure they reported security incidents in time so that quick responses could be made before they got out of hand.

He also said reporting incidents late would delay responses and the area people would out-rightly blame the government because of poor response occasioned by officers earning salaries from the taxpayers to execute services to the public.

He however said that security patrols would be enhanced to counter criminals who have been attacking people while returning home from their business schedules from 6.30 pm to 9.00pm.

Meanwhile, Omoding has urged farmers to start preparing their farms and take advantage of the subsidized government fertilizer available at National Cereals and Produce Board depot in Isiolo town.
