Isiolo municipality market to be completed in two months

Isiolo Municipality Manager Mr. Osman Halake has called on traders who will benefit from the new market that is still under construction to be patient promising it will be completed in two months’ time.

Speaking to the press soon after inspecting the progress of the construction Mr. Halake asked for patience from the traders as the Municipality has arranged how to settle them in the market after the completion of the work.

He said that the market will accommodate 1,300 business persons who have been vetted and found to be genuine beneficiaries.

Mr. Halake added that all the floor, wall, and roofing work is already finished and the only area of concern was plumbing and electricity fitting.

“Independent borehole will be constructed to cater for the water supply in the market and also we are planning to install a standby generator in order to allow the flow of businesses in the market during the day and night,” Halake added.

The municipality manager also added that the county government is planning to establish another 10,000 stores within Isiolo town so that the motorcycles, Lorries, and hawkers could also be accommodated.

“When the market is under control it will enhance revenue collection and also enforcement of rules and regulations become easier to follow,” he said.

Halake added that the drawback that had delayed the project was the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions that had been put in place and the last year’s general election.
