President Ruto William Ruto has arrived in Djibouti where he is set to attend the 41st Extraordinary Assembly of IGAD Heads of State and Government. 

Ruto joins the meeting as the Chair of the IGAD Quartet Group of Countries. 

The summit will discuss on the state of conflict in Sudan and resolutions to Ameliore the suffering of civilians. 

Ruto will be joined by other leaders including Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti who is also the Chair and Host of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and Member of the IGAD Quartet Group of Countries. Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of Ethiopia l, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of the Republic of Sudan and Moussa Faki Mohammed, Chairperson of the African Union Commission. 

The IGAD members convene in unity and solidarity against the ongoing conflict in Sudan which has casted a shadow over the Horn of Africa.

However, a cautious optimism has been attained amidst the recent partial agreement reached during the Jeddah talks, which made a significant step forward in settling the issue of humanitarian access.

The summit seeks to mobilise full political and diplomatic support in delivering a peaceful resolution to the hostilities in Sudan.

Meanwhile, the summit adopts Peaceful and respectful dialogue approaches in efforts to find long lasting peace. 

Amongst the key resolutions will be on the immediate establishment of a ceasefire agreement and silencing the guns that have wreaked havoc on the lives of innocent civilians.
