President William Ruto is set to embark on a four-day visit to the Luo Nyanza region, starting with the launch of several important development projects in Migori county.
The President's visit, which will begin on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, is highly anticipated as it promises great development in the infrastructure and agricultural potential of the area.
In Migori County, the President will first inaugurate the Kegonga water project in East Kuria Sub-County.
This project is expected to bring much-needed relief to the residents of East Kuria, who have long struggled to get clean and reliable water.
The Kegonga water project is part of the government's wider plan to improve water infrastructure in underserved areas, ensuring that all Kenyans have access to this vital resource.
Apart from the water project, President Ruto will also inspect the Kuja Chini Irrigation Project. This project, which has been the basis of agricultural development in the region, aims to revive the fertile land of Nyatike by providing a reliable source of water for irrigation.
Speaking to the press, Migori County Governor Ochilo Ayacko expressed optimism about the potential impact of the project.
"We hope that the inspection of the Lower Kuja Irrigation project will bring out the full agricultural potential of Migori through the recovery of the fertile land of Nyatike," Governor Ayacko said.
He emphasized that the project could transform Migori into a major agricultural hub, promote food production and provide new economic opportunities for local farmers.
Another major highlight of President Ruto's visit will be the inauguration of the Ngege-Mapera Road.
The construction of this road is expected to improve communication within the county, facilitating the transportation of goods and people.
Improved road infrastructure is seen as an important factor in unlocking economic growth in the region, and the Ngege-Mapera Road is an important step towards this goal.
The President's agenda also includes the expansion of the Lichota airport, which is expected to enhance transport and business in the area.
This expansion will facilitate business in Migori and may attract more investment to the area.
President Ruto's visit to the Luo Nyanza area is a clear sign of the government's commitment to addressing the developmental needs of the area.
As the President launches and inspects these projects, the people of Migori are hopeful that these plans will bring tangible progress in their lives.
