Primary school national exams enter the second day

The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Primary School Examination Assessment (KPSEA) exams entered the second day Tuesday, without any incidents reported in Isiolo County.

Isiolo Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Patrick Musango confirmed that the exercise was running smoothly, adding that the county was well prepared for the national exercise beforehand taking into consideration all contingencies.

“We had put in place intervention measures in the event of security risks and flooding as well as having adequate personnel to supervise the exam,” Musango emphasized.

The County had registered about 10,000 for the two national exams, which will wind up Wednesday, November 1, 2023.

According to the County Director of Education Ms. Caroline Mugo, 5129 candidates would be sitting for KCPE among them 2507 boys and 2622 girls, while 4590 candidates will tackle KPSEA across the County.

She added that a further 1871 candidates comprising 953 boys and 918 girls will be writing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in the county.

Ms. Mugo said school heads and the examination supervisors are well briefed on how to avoid any breach of the examination’s credibility.

The examinations are being picked up at the seven distribution containers as early as 6:00 a.m. and escorted to centers by security officers.

The candidates started writing the science paper at 8.30 a.m. Tuesday, while Kiswahili and Insha (Kiswahili composition) will follow later in the day.
