PSG keeper Rico leaves hospital 82 days after near-fatal accident
MADRID, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) --
Paris Saint-Germain's Spanish goalkeeper Sergio Rico left hospital on Friday, 82 days after an accident which nearly ended his life.
Rico suffered a serious head injury after being kicked in the head by a horse in the town of El Rocio in southern Spain on May 28, and was taken to the Virgen del Rocio Hospital nearby Seville, where he spent five weeks in the intensive care unit, with the first week in an induced coma, with his life in serious danger.
The goalkeeper's wife, Alba Silva, celebrated Rico's recovery with a message on social media saying he was "100 percent: that is the best thing and we are very happy."
29-year-old Rico began his career with Sevilla, playing in their first team between 2014 and 2019, winning two UEFA Europa League titles and making 170 first-team appearances.
He then spent a season in the Premier League with Fulham, before moving to PSG in 2019.
Rico is to continue his recovery at home.
