Residents of Igembe North have been urged to cooperate with security agents and provide any information that may aid in the apprehension of cattle rattlers who left five people dead and five injured on Monday night and Tuesday morning attacks respectively.
It is alleged that over 400 cattle were stolen during the heart-wrenching incident which has left the residents in pain.
According Igembe North Police Commandant Joshua Chesire, two police officers were among the five who lost lives.
“We are so sad over the devastating incident that occurred in Njaruine and Makinya village in Mutuati where we have lost five people among them two officers while five people got injured,” he said.
Chesire maintained that security has been beefed up in the area where police officers from Meru, Isiolo and Samburu have been deployed to maintain peace and were pursuing the culprits.
He promised the residents of the area tranquility and urged them to provide any information that may help them during the probe.
The horrific incident comes barely a month after the killing of Antubetwe EKiongo former Member of County Assembly George Kaliunga by the bandits as they pursued stolen cattle in the same area.
The residents have urged the government to look deeply into the issues of insecurity and move swiftly to address the incidents in the area for once and for all.
