In a collaborative effort to promote environmental conservation and contribute to President William Ruto's ambitious tree planting initiative, various institutions and individuals came together today for a tree planting exercise at Kapcherop Technical and Vocational College in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
Among the participants were the Kenya Forest Service (KFS), administration officials, and representatives from the National Police Service (NPS), along with other individuals committed to the course.
The event aimed at supporting President Ruto's call to plant 15 billion trees by 2032, with the goal of increasing Kenya's tree cover to over 30 percent within the next decade.
Expressing gratitude for the support, the Principal of Kapcherop Technical and Vocational College, Titus Kiplimo, acknowledged the KFS's contribution of tree seedlings, emphasizing the vital role that the newly planted trees would play in sustaining life and stabilizing the environment.
"These trees that we have planted today are key to sustaining life and will help to improve our environment, among other benefits," he noted.
The participants prepared a bed containing approximately 5,000 seedlings, symbolizing their commitment to the course. Both Kapcherop Boys' and Girls' schools, as well as the students of Kapcherop Technical and Vocational College, actively participated in the tree planting exercise, showcasing their dedication to environmental conservation.
A total of 2,000 tree seedlings were planted, furthering the overarching goal of enhancing Kenya's forest cover. This collaborative effort serves as a testament to the commitment of various institutions and individuals towards creating a sustainable future for the next generation.
