Residents Urged to embrace setting up of Mobile Masts

Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi has challenged residents living in remote areas of the county where mobile masts have been earmarked to be set up to embrace them.

Governor Cheboi was responding to a matter in Bartabwa ward in Baringo North Sub County where a section of the locals opposed the idea of installing a mobile mast within their vicinity.

He condemned such acts saying the communication equipment is of great importance to the residents of Chepkesin, Chemoe and Kinyach who are affected by perennial insecurity challenges.

The County boss made the remarks at Arap Moi Secondary School in Bartabwa Ward when he signed a collaboration agreement on behalf of Baringo County government which entered into a five-year collaboration agreement with Kerio Valley Development Authority on conservation and sustainable development.

Cheboi who was accompanied by his deputy Engineer Felix Kipngok and other local leaders pointed out that such areas lack mobile network coverage hence it is a challenge for residents to even report to the local administration on banditry attacks.

“I want to assure you that the misunderstanding will be sorted out quickly for a booster to be built in this area so that anybody who wants to make calls can do so without any difficulty,” the Baringo Governor assured residents.

He said that the construction works of the mast will be supervised by the police but urged residents to work closely with them to ensure its safety.

Cheboi noted that such facilities will greatly reduce challenges of banditry and cattle rustling and promote peace within the volatile region.
