Revealed: Uhuru transfers his security to Mama Ngina
By Robert Mutasi
Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta has now had to send some of his bodyguards to protect his mother who was the wife of the First President, Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
The police officers were informed by Uhuru to go and assist the private guards stationed at Mama Ngina's private house in Muthaiga Street, Nairobi, officials familiar with the matter said.
This is happening following the government's decision to remove administrative police officers who have been guarding the houses of the former first lady in Nairobi and Gatundu.
Uhuru said the officers who have been protecting his mother for more than 50 years were removed without any explanation to the family.
Mama Ngina was not there when the guards were removed on July 18.
It was then that Uhuru reportedly told some soldiers who were guarding to go to protect his mother's house following threats that thugs would invade.
"If they want me, they will come for me. I am here. They should not go to my old mother or children. I will not be afraid. I am ready to defend my family," he said.
On Sunday, the six-time President was seen at the Ngong Racecourse enjoying horse racing without any bodyguards. Uhuru interacted with the citizens who had attended the competition freely.
The beef between Kenyatta and Ruto ascended to the peak after Ruto and his allies claimed that the former president is behind the Azimio protests.
"I'm I not supposed to talk to my friends? Is that a crime in Kenya today? Maybe you should tell me," he said after alleged to sponsor the Azimio protests.
