Robbery with violence suspects charged for stealing sh. 79,000

Two men said to have attacked and robbed a man of Sh 79,000 have appeared before a Kabarnet court charged with robbery with violence.
The duo, Elvis Kibet and Felix Kiplagat Yator were charged with engaging in the criminal offence, contrary to Section 292 (2) of the Penal Code.
The court was told that the suspects caused injuries when they attacked and robbed Bernard Chebon Kiplagat on May 25, 2023 at 8.06 am at Kaptimbor area within Kabarnet town, the headquarters of Baringo County.
The two, accused of mercilessly beating up the complainant before proceeding to steal the said money wer arrested the foolowing day by officers from Kabarnet police station, who were alerted over the incident by the complainant.
The accused persons who appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Edwin Mulochi Tuesday, however pleaded not guilty of the offence.
Prosecution counsel Joseck Abwajo requested the court to deny the accused the option of cash bail because they may fail to cooperate or even fail to come back for the case.
Senior Resident Magistrate who acted on the request by the prosecutor ultimately agreed to grant each of them a bond of Sh300, 000, with surety of the same amount.
The magistrate directed the case to be mentioned on June 13.
