Ruto had the real deep state, Raila's was a shell - ODM MP
A Member of Parliament (MP) elected on the ODM party ticket believes William Ruto won the 2022 presidential contest fair and square, because of a ray of issues that played in his favour.
Saboti MP Caleb Amisi in a video shared online by journalist Enock Sikolia says contrary to popular belief that his party leader, Raila Odinga, enjoyed support from key government figures (deep state) ahead of the polls, it was Ruto, who had the 'real deep state.'
Kenyans were made to believe that Odinga had the 'deep state in his pocket,' courtesy of backing by retired president Uhuru Kenyatta.
"William Ruto had the money, the deep state and the energy. You can't defeat such a candidate even if it was Caleb Amisi. You won't defeat me," the vocal MP says in the clip, which is part of a documentary titled 'The Game of Might and Mind."
"The deep state had been taken by Ruto long time ago.The deep state that was with the handshake (Uhuru and Raila) was a shell of a deep state. The real deep state had gone," he added.
Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati, declared Ruto winner of the August 9th presidential contest with 7.1 million votes.
Odinga came second with 6.9 million votes.
