The driver of the Matatu Raila bordered speaks

Duncan Murage, the matatu operator who had the honor of driving Raila Odinga to town one Monday, reported that the politician acted like any ordinary commuter.
In an interview with KTN News, Murage revealed that the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader flagged down his matatu for a ride between Ngong town and Nairobi's central business district, a typical part of his day-to-day schedule.
"He simply flagged us down, we were surprised, but he just hopped in like anyone else and we took him. We picked up passengers as we usually do and drove to GPO where he got off," Murage shared.
Murage reported a significant stir and noise from spectators who gathered to witness the unfolding scene after the ODM leader got on board the vehicle.
Murage stated that as Raila engaged with other commuters in the back of the matatu, he continued to drive the vehicle into town as he would on any normal day.
"I didn't even get a chance to talk to him. He just entered at the back like an ordinary person. I wasn't scared because I am just an ordinary person. I drove the vehicle just as we usually transport people," he said.
Murage admitted that witnessing one of Kenya's leading politicians board his matatu was an enormous surprise that filled him with joy.
The former presidential candidate made his bus fare payment in the same manner as any other passenger, Murage further noted.
"Everyone took care of their own fare. He paid for himself," Murage said.
"They say Baba (Raila) enriched us but there is nothing like that. He was just another passenger. The vehicle just got hyped," he added.
Murage also mentioned, despite the positive publicity his matatu received when Raila used it for commuting to work, he has been inundated with phone calls from people around him hoping to profit from the gifts they presumed the ODM leader had bestowed on him that Monday.
