Siaya leadership is in full support of the proposed talks between Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza teams but insists that decorum must prevail, Governor James Orengo has said.

Orengo said that whereas Kenyans are yearning for fruitful discussions that will see the country forge ahead, Kenya Kwanza leaders must stop engaging in talks that demean opposition leader, Raila Odinga.

He was speaking at Boro market in Alego / Usonga constituency after opening a new modern market which was constructed by the county government.

The governor called on the police to stop using live ammunitions while quelling demonstrations.

“In democratic countries, when there are demonstrations, police do not use guns,” said Orengo who lamented that in recent demonstrations, police used deadly weapons against civilians who were exercising their democratic rights.

He challenged President William Ruto to take responsibility for the loss of lives as a result of police action during the demonstrations.

Orengo said that all Kenyans are equal hence the notion that this was a country of shareholders must not be entertained.

The governor, who was accompanied by, among others county secretary, Joseph Ogutu, also toured several projects being undertaken by his government, among them the construction of a rice mill in Usonga ward.
