Ruto promises Azimio defeat in 2027
By Peter Ochieng
President William Ruto is confident of trouncing Azimio brigade in 2027.
Speaking in Vihiga County on Saturday, Ruto said he won the 2022 presidential contest fair and square, urging Azimio leaders to give him time to work for Kenyans.
He said Azimio leaders should swallow the humble pie and wait for him on the 2027 presidential ballot, expressing confidence of winning again.
"The people already went to the polls and chose their preferred leaders and if they still feel they want to try their luck, 2027 is there, let them come we will show them dust for the last time," said Ruto.
He urged Azimio leaders to stop opposing the Finance Act, 2023, insisting that full implementation of the legislation will create employment especially for the youth.
“Tell those people to stop opposing the Act. It will help create opportunities for the youth."
Azimio leaders and supporters have demonstrated for the past three days, calling for among others repeal of the Finance Act and lowering of the cost of living.
The Act introduces a host of new taxes, among them the 1.5 per cent housing levy. The Act also increased Value Added Tax (VAT) from 8 per cent to 16 per cent.
