Deputy President William Ruto has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta over his recent claims that his fallout with the DP was because the latter wanted to oust him.
During a meeting with Kikuyu council of elders members at State House on Saturday March 26, President Kenyatta is reported to have said he fell out with Ruto because he wanted to impeach him and ascend to power through the backdoor.
According to reports on Standard, the President told elders that his DP had tried approaching Odinga over the alleged impeachment.
“The president informed us that Ruto was going behind his back, planning how he could close ranks with Raila to impeach him at an appropriate time,” Mathioya MP Peter Kimari told the Standard.
Reacting to the reports,DP Ruto while campaigning in Kilifi County on Sunday termed them as mere propaganda.
The DP noted that he played a critical role in ensuring Uhuru ascends to office, adding that those opposed to his presidential should avoid such remarks that can tension tension in the country.

"Hata kama hamtaki kuniunga mkono, wacheni porojo na propaganda ya bure. Wacheni kugawanya wakenya. Eti William Ruto anaweza kupindua mtu ambaye niliweka kwa ofisi?
"Mimi ni mtu mzima, mimi si mlevi, mimi si wazimu ati niweke serikali ndani halafu niende niifanyie njama ya kuipindua," the DP said.
Taking a swipe at Odinga, the DP revisited the former prime minister’s mock swearing-in in January 2018, arguing that it is the ODM leader who attempted to get power from the president through the back door.
"In 1982, he was there during the coup. Recently, he swore himself (as the people's president) in a bid to try to topple the government," Ruto opined.
