Ruto to CSs: Focus on service delivery

By Peter Ochieng

President William Ruto on Monday held his first cabinet meeting with newly appointed Cabinet Secretaries (CSs), alongside all Principal Secretaries (PSs).

The meeting at State House, Nairobi came a matter of days after the new Cabinet Secretaries were vetted and approved by the National Assembly, and subsequently sworn-in.

The Head of State urged the leaders to uphold integrity and avoid corruption while administering their mandates.

“We have formed a broad-based government to unite the country and rally all Kenyans behind the country's transformation journey. I call on those selected to serve in the cabinet to focus on the implementation of programs and policies that will transform the lives of Kenyans and move the country forward. Let us not waste this golden opportunity,” he wrote on his X account.

The meeting was attended by among others, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi who doubles up the CS for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

President Ruto dissolved his first cabinet at the height of GEN-Z protests which started in June, against his administration.

He re-appointed some of them back to the Cabinet, in addition to four Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) stalwarts.
