Ruto turns State House meeting into a 'classroom'

President William Ruto on Tuesday turned a Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting into a lecture hall or a classroom, so to speak.

The Head of State took Members of Parliament (MPs), Senators and Women Representatives aligned to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance through what he intends to do for the people of Kenya, for the next four or so years.

According to Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi, the leaders had to find pens and note books to write something down.

"MPs, Women Reps, Senators, found notes, pens and notebooks and from 8am, it has been a proper classroom on Finance Bill, Housing, Health and Government plan," said Itumbi.

Ruto, ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo and housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga were among the 'teachers.'

"The first class was taught by President William Ruto. Then ICT & Digital Economy CS who gave the plan on building the Digital Super-Highway, 25k free WiFi hotshots, 1450 Ward based Digital hubs and constituency digital laboratories to promote remote jobs."

"Followed by Housing, a double lesson by PS Charles Hinga. 3% demystified, it is capped at a maximum of 2,500. Employer then matches the amount. 97% of Kenyans cannot afford a house, Housing Fund gives them a chance to be home owners," added Itumbi.

President Ruto continues to defend the 3% housing levy, despite opposition from various quarters among them the opposition.

The levy is contained in the yet to be passed Finance Bill, 2023.

He said through the levy, his administration will kill two stones with one stone - creating employment opportunities for thousands of jobless youths and delivering affordable housing for Kenyans.
