President William Ruto has issued a stern warning to Generation Z youths following the planned protest on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
The protest has labeled "Nane Nane" and is expected to take place throughout the country.
Speaking to residents of Runyenjes, Embu County, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, Ruto warned the youths to refrain from demonstrations that will lead to chaos.
President Ruto has said that Kenya is a country that is witnessing peace for many years.
"We are a country that believes in peace, we do not want chaos in our nation of Kenya," he stated.
He has accused the young people of conspiring to carry out destruction and violence.
Ruto promised Kenyans that the protests will not stop the nation from moving forward.
"I want to assure you that we will unite our Kenyan nation and we will make sure that Kenya will take a step forward," promised Ruto.
The President said that he will not accept in any way a chaotic demonstration to take place.
"We don't want protests that bring disaster, that bring destruction of property, people lose their property," said Ruto.
Ruto emphasized that the new Constitution of Kenya allows for peaceful and non-violent protests.
The Nane Nane protest is determined to oppose the current regime of Kenya Kwanza.
Young people believe that the Nane Nane protest will be bigger and more historic compared to other protests that have been taking place.
Generation Z protests led to loss of lives, properties destruction and looting.
