Safaricom business launches revamped 5G to support growing digital needs

Leading telecommunication company Safaricom has launched the revamped 5G for Business to provide Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with faster, more reliable connectivity that supports their growing digital needs.
The needs include real-time collaboration, seamless online transactions, and remote operations.
The announcement was made at the ‘Grow with Safaricom Business’ Western Kenya Edition over the weekend, a platform that aims to equip SMEs with knowledge that will enable them to scale their businesses through technology.
According to the company, the upgraded 5G for Business will deliver speeds that are five times higher and aims to improve customer experience.
“The new 5G for Business will ensure that SMEs can access enterprise-grade internet performance without stretching their budgets. This will empower them to enhance productivity, improve customer interactions, and scale operations efficiently in today’s increasingly connected marketplace,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom PLC.
Additionally, there is an offer from 29th November to 31st December 2024 where businesses that sign up for the 5G plan will get 25% off all 5G plans.
According to the Kenya Institute of Public Policy, Research and Analysis, there are over 7.4 million Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises MSMEs, employing approximately 14.9 million Kenyans in various sectors of the economy, generating 30% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Safaricom provides connectivity through a wide range of technology, 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G in aggregate covering over 99% of Kenya’s population.
The company, as part of its ongoing commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), continues to work towards improving energy and resource efficiency in its network and facilities to reduce carbon emissions and our fuel consumption.
