Sarah Moraa Triumphs in 800m at World Athletics U-20 Championships in Lima

In an amazing display of talent and determination, 20-year-old Sarah Moraa has won gold in the 800m at the World Under-20 Athletics Championships, held in Lima, Peru.

 Moraa, who has often cited her cousin, Mary Moraa—Kenya's legendary middle distance runner—as her greatest source of inspiration, delivered a remarkable performance that cements her as a rising star in the world of athletics.

The event saw Moraa dominating the track from start to finish, clocking a time of 2:01.76. 

This victory not only earned her a place on the podium but also put her on the map as one of the most promising young athletes in the world.

Speaking after her win, Sarah Moraa expressed her gratitude for the support she has received from her family, especially her cousin Mary, who has been a mentor and role model throughout her young life. 

"Mary has always been my biggest inspiration. Watching her succeed on the international stage gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams. This victory is as much hers as mine," Sarah said, beaming with pride.

Mary Moraa, who has made a name for herself in the 800m and 400m at the senior level, including winning a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, was reportedly delighted with her cousin's success.

 In a social media post, she congratulated Sarah, calling her victory "a family affair" and emphasizing the importance of passing the torch to the next generation of athletes.

The U-20 World Athletics Championships have long been a breeding ground for up-and-coming stars, and Sarah Moraa's victory is a testament to Kenya's continued dominance in middle-distance running.

 Her success follows in the footsteps of her cousin and other Kenyan legends, suggesting that the country's rich athletic heritage is in good hands.
