Igembe South Deputy County Commissioner Noah Tonui Kibet has called members of the public to live the dictum of being a brother's keeper by reporting criminals to security agencies adding that security issues need concerted efforts.
“We can only eradicate insecurity including petty theft by identifying and reporting law breakers to the relevant government agencies,” Tonui said.
He reiterated that his office in conjunction with the police has combatted the issue of bodaboda theft and tasked the local authorities including chiefs and community policing members to ensure that they completely get rid of illicit brews noting that they have significantly minimized illicit brew in the area.
The DCC linked insecurity to consumption and sale of illicit brews and substance abuse adding that they are a threat to both social and economic development and warned the perpetrators who are playing hide and seek games with authorities of dire consequences once the law catches up with them.
The sub-county boss urged the residents to prioritize upholding peace and harmony in order to foster security within the region.
“There is need for collective action from all stakeholders to ensure individuals suspected to be criminals are reported immediately to the relevant authority to curb insecurity incidences,” Tonui said.
The administrator further urged members of the public to always share vital intelligence information with security agencies in a bid to improve security and reduce crime rate in the area.
