Two young men were arraigned before Kenol law courts Wednesday over theft of property belonging to Murang’a South Water and Sanitation Company Limited (MUSWASCO).

Peter Mwangi and his co-accused Charles Njuguna were caught on April 7 at Gachera village near Intake dam at Murang’a south sub county.

The court heard that Samuel Ndirangu, who works with the water firm was the one who witnessed what happened on that day.

Initially the duo had colluded with other four members who managed to escape.

Ndirangu stated that on the material day, the accused persons went to the dam, armed to the teeth and threatened to harm him so that they could steal.

For the fear of his life and being outnumbered by the armed men, he fled and went to report at Gathera patrol base.

The accused persons managed to steal hard steel bars worth Sh.120, 000 and spoilt cords and culverts worth the same amount.

The two pleaded guilty before Senior Resident Magistrate Sheila Nyaga and were convicted on their own plea of guilt.

They were subsequently ordered to pay a fine of Sh.100, 000 or in default face a one-year jail term.
