The Kakamega county government has disbursed bursary worth over Sh240 million.

County governor Fernandes Barasa said he has doubled the bursary allocation from Sh120 million to Sh240 million in a bid to increase the student’s uptake.

He encouraged the parents and students to collect the forms and apply for the bursary before schools re-open next year.

Barasa spoke in Matungu Sub County when he said the forms should be collected from the ward administrator’s office.

“The application forms are available at the ward administrator’s office for students joining colleges and Universities this financial year to collect,” he said.

The bursary has helped most students from poor backgrounds in the region to fulfill their dreams and complete their education.

The governor said his priority on education has led to increased infrastructural facilities in the learning institutions and elevated academic performance in the region.

He said he will collaborate with other key stakeholders including the school management and the community to improve school infrastructure.
