Sh58 million for Inua Jamii beneficiaries in Makueni

The government through the State Department for Social Protection has disbursed Sh58,346,000 million under the Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme for the month of July, earmarked for 29,173 beneficiaries in Makueni County.
Those set to benefit under this disbursement include 22,255 Older Persons, 991 people with severe disabilities and 5,927 Orphans and Vulnerable Children in the area, registered under the Inua Jamii programme.
“Each of the beneficiaries will receive Sh2,000 through various financial institutions including Post Bank, Equity Bank, Kenya Commercial Bank, Cooperative Bank, Kenya Women Finance and the National Bank,” said the Makueni County Coordinator of Social Development Daniel Kitheka in his Wote Office on Tuesday.
While saying the beneficiaries have started receiving the monies, Kitheka disclosed that going forward, the monies going disbursed on monthly basis as opposed to the previous four-month cycle.
“In line with the Presidential Directive, the payments will be made every month as opposed to what used to happen in the past, where beneficiaries waited for over cumulative pay covering four months,” noted Kitheka.
The coordinator said the government will soon announce to members of the public the dates for replacement of dormant beneficiaries, who have since existed the programme through natural attrition.
