Nine dorper sheep that were stolen from former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family owned Northland farm over a month ago have been found at Mugutha area, Juja Sub County.

The animals which looked feeble and hungry were found at a palatial home during a police raid on illicit brews yesterday.

Juja Sub County Police Commander Phylis Muthoni had to first feed them using green leaves from trees in the compound before the former first family was alerted.

The Northlands farm manager, who was accompanied by some of his workers, arrived at the home, identified the animals and took them away after recording statements at the Mugutha police post.

“Our sheep have identification tags on their ears depending on the year they were born. That’s why it was easy to identify them,” he said.

Kiambu Police County Commander Perminius Kioi who led the illicit brew raid said the owner would be treated as a normal livestock thief.

The owner of the house had fled after sensing danger but Kioi said they were tracking him down.

This is not the first time the over 1,500 sheep that were stolen from the Northlands farm on March 27, this year are finding their way back to the farm as hundreds of the animals have been returned back to the farm by the thieves who claimed they feared curses.

At the house, hundreds of the counterfeit alcohol that had been packaged for distribution, some which bore names of well-known brands, were confiscated.
