Skyward Express: The cost of flying from Nairobi to Migori
By Peter Ochieng
Anyone wishing to fly from Nairobi to Migori and vice versa can now do so, after the launch of the inaugural flight to the border county on Wednesday.
Skyward Express will henceforth operate three weekly flights, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in what is expected to ease transport.
Speaking while presiding over launch of the inaugural flight from Nairobi's Wilson Airport to Migori airstrip, Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary for Transport said it is a step in the right direction.
"Together, we are opening up new horizons for our county and region, facilitating business growth, and promoting the free flow of ideas and opportunities," said the CS. Tickets are going for Sh8, 600 for one way, with the trip expected to take 50 minutes.
"Proud to have been part of this historic milestone achieved by Skyward Express. Together, we are opening up new horizons for our county and region, facilitating business growth, and promoting the free flow of ideas and opportunities," said the CS.
The CS was joined by among others, Azimio leader Raila Odinga's wife, Mama Ida Odinga, Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Board Chairperson Caleb Kositany, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah and Migori Senator Eddy Oketch.
In December, 2022, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua launched the maiden flight from Nairobi to Kakamega.
"The president has asked CS Murkomen to make sure that at the end of the term, to have opened commercial flights to every county or neighboring counties for easy business operations and travel,” he said at the time.
In June, Renegade Air started operations on the Nairobi - Homabay route, in a function presided over by the CS and Homabay Governor Gladys Wanga.
